Usually a biopsy is recommended when there is some sort of abnormality on a physical examination or a radiology test. A breast cancer biopsy is a practice that allows the doctor to take out a small amount of tissue from the breast the tissue is then taken to a lab for examination. There are various biopsy procedures that can be performed. Local anesthetic is a process that is used to numb a precise region. General anesthesia can also be used; which allows a patient to be sedated throughout the whole procedure. The size and location of the lump or abnormality is what establishes the type of procedure that will be used for the breast cancer biopsy.
There are different types of biopsies that can be preformed and because of this fact it is recommended to talk about which option will best suit you with your health care provider. One method includes using a fine needle aspirate. This method is suggested to dethatch a cyst from a lump. The fine needle aspirate is used to withdraw fluid from the lump. Open or surgical biopsy is another option. This process typically involves general anesthetic in which a surgeon will get rid part or the whole lump from the affected area. An incision is made in the breast and the tissue is then taken away. Incisional biopsy and Excisional biopsy are two types of surgical biopsies that can be used to take out suspicious or cancerous tissue from the breast. Incisional biopsy is when a small amount of the lump is taken away whereas Excisional biopsy the whole lump is taken away. There is a wire localization technique that can also be used. This is done when the lump is small, deep and difficult to locate. The technique uses a special wire which is place into the lump using x-ray guidance. The surgeon then follows that wire to locate where the lump is within the breast.
Minimally Invasive Biopsies
Women are beginning to seek procedures that are less invasive and traumatic to the body. Less scarring of the breast tissue is also something that women demand. Special instruments and techniques are used to make this possible. By using modern day technology, such as Mammograms & computers, surgeons are now able to see 3D images which help find the exact location of the breast lump or suspicious tissue and remove it with a needle.
Ultrasound-guided biopsy
A computer and transducer can be used to send ultrasonic sound waves which will create an image of the breast lump or mass. This system helps guide the needle while the surgeon is taking the biopsy. This procedure is called the ultrasound-guided biopsy. The stereotactic and ultrasound-guided techniques can be assisted by a mamma tone breast cancer biopsy system which is also knows as a vacuumed assistant biopsy. A tube is put into the breast lump or mass and the breast tissue is lightly suctioned into the tube and a rotating knife then removes the tissue. The handheld mammogram device has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration since 1999.
Best MRI
Articles that have recently been published suggest that women who have certain risks would be able to benefit from a breast MRI or magnetic resonance imaging test. The magnetic resonance imaging test uses magnetic field and radio waves to make a computer image of the breast. This practice required no radiation or x-rays. The radiological testing will benefit women by providing more information about the breast tissue and may prevent unnecessary biopsies.

Pt.2: Phytoestrogens to Reduce the Risk of Breast Cancer
Synthetic hormone replacement therapy is known to increase the risk of breast cancer and interestingly the heights of breast cancer have decrease slightly since a lot of women stopped using it. Also the hormones in the oral contraceptive peel increase the risk of breast cancer. According to the World Health Organization oral contraceptives are a class 1 carcinogen meaning they are a known cancer causer. This is joined formaldehyde and benzene, the same group of chemicals that are well known cancer causers. Also the hormones your body makes can either help reduce the risk of breast cancer or make you more likely to develop it. Progesterone deficiency is known to greatly boost the risk of breast cancer; if you are lacking in progesterone you are 5 times more prone to developed premenopausal breast cancer than women who are not progesterone deficient. The two main female sex hormones are estrogen & progesterone; estrogen is often produced in the first part of the menstrual cycle and progesterone is mainly produced in the second part. Some possible symptoms of progesterone deficiency include things like heavy painful periods, fibroids, endometriosis, and mood swings before a period.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome; when women suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome do not have enough progesterone in their body and they have too much estrogen in their body which is a big risk factor for breast cancer. So it is vitally important that your work on balancing your hormones and make sure that you do have enough progesterone to reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Another way to reduce the risk of breast cancer is by making sure you have plenty of phytoestrogens in your eating habits. Phytoestrogens are plant estrogens that are produced in foods such as nuts, seeds, legumes, and lentils. The plants estrogens actually have the capability to connect to the estrogen receptors in the breast cells but they have a gentle effect to help protect your breast cells from more authoritative and potentially harmful estrogen, either estrogen made in your own body or the estrogen like chemicals found in the environment.
Flaxseeds are an excellent source of phytoestrogens, but in order to absorb the phytoestrogens from flaxseeds you will need to have them ground. So simply eating whole flaxseed either in bread or muesli bars will not give you the benefit, you need to grind the flaxseeds if possible at home in a coffee grinder. Grind small amounts at a time and consume them quickly. You can add them to a smoothie, a cereal, or over chopped fruit. It is also essential to be aware that you are not over weight and that you do not have high blood sugar. Some people do not associate being overweight with an increased risk of cancer, but it does increase your risk of all types of cancer including breast cancer. Some of the reasons are if you are overweight some of your fat cell are going to be making estrogen which will enlarge your level of estrogen which could amplify your risk of cancer. Also overweight people, mainly if they have excessive weight around their stomach area tend to have higher insulin than slim people and insulin can fuel the growth of tumors. Whenever we eat sugar or high carbohydrate foods such as pasta, bread, rice, breakfast cereals, or potatoes all those foods make your pancreas release insulin and your liver release insulin like growth factor one. If you eat a lot of those foods regularly you are going to have high levels of those two hormones. If there are any cancerous cells in your body insulin and insulin like growth factor one will act like fertilizers which help promote the tumor growth.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome; when women suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome do not have enough progesterone in their body and they have too much estrogen in their body which is a big risk factor for breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness pt.1: Tips for Breast Cancer Prevention
Breast cancer is a dreadfully terrifying sickness that is why taking cautious steps to breast cancer prevention is vital. Worldwide 1 woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 29 seconds and every 75 seconds 1 woman in the world dies from breast cancer. Breast cancer is the condition nearly every women fear more than any other disease. This is mostly because they think there is nothing they can do about it; they feel weak and do not realize the power of today's breast cancer prevention strategies.
Most women know if they would like to reduce their possibility of osteoporosis they can get enough calcium in their diet they can get some exercise or get enough vitamin D; if they want to reduce the risk of a heart attack they can make certain their cholesterol is not too elevated and they can also get some exercise. But most women do not think there is anything at all that they can do to help prevent breast cancer but the excellent news is that is there heaps they can do in efforts to breast cancer prevention. For instance make sure that you get enough vitamin D in your system. Vitamins can help reduce the risk of multiple types of cancers, such as Breast cancer, Prostate cancer, Colon cancer, Lung cancer.
Each time our skin is exposed to sunlight the cholesterol in our skin is converted into vitamin D, but for the standard person who works inside they do not manufacture enough vitamin D in their body. You can ask your doctor to do a blood test on you to find the amount of vitamin D and most people are actually missing.
If you have dark skin you are going to need to spend more time outdoors than a fair-skinned person will to acquire enough sunlight to produce an efficient amount of vitamin D. if you use sun screen this will inhibit your body from being able to manufacture vitamin D. It is key not to get sun burned, however please remember that some sunlight is vitally important for good health because of vitamin D.
Women who are vitamin D deficient at the time of being diagnosed with breast cancer are 94% more prone to have their cancer spread and they are 73% more likely to die from breast cancer in the next 10 years than women who are not vitamin D deficient. So vitamin D is a vital instrument when it comes to breast cancer prevention.
Interestingly, overweight people are frequently vitamin D deficient because it is a fat soluble vitamin; this means the vitamin ends up being stored in their body fat and not their bloodstream where they need it.
Environmental chemicals are a known potential cause of breast cancer. According to the Silent Spring Institute, in the USA a sum number of 216 unlike chemicals and radiation sources are internationally recognized as causing breast cancer. Have a look at the kind of chemicals you have around your home and chemicals you put on your body; moisturizers, perfumes, shampoo, cosmetics, toiletries, personal care products, insecticides, and cleaning chemicals. A lot of these things hold chemicals called endocrine disrupters or oestrogen mimics. They actually behave like oestrogen in your body; they have a very potent effect. Oestrogen in excess can stimulate the growth of breast tumors.
When it comes to breast cancer prevention you have to stay on top of your game. Not knowing can how to reduce the risk is no reason because the information is widely accessible. Read part 2 for further breast cancer prevention tips.
